NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
On The Traffic Congestion at the Tungkop and Tunghaan Intersection, and Highway
Mga Minglanillahanon ug sa tanang mogamit sa atong kadalanan:
We have seen your complaints on social media about the heavy traffic congestion in Minglanilla in the past days. We hear you, and we understand your frustration.
This is to inform everyone that the ongoing congestion is brought about by the road repair works at the intersection of Tungkop highway, a NATIONAL project implemented by the DPWH, not by the Municipal Government.
This is a project that Minglanillahanons have long waited for, and for which we are thankful. Once completed, it will benefit not only Minglanilla, but all motorists and commuters who pass through the only road to and from southern Cebu. Short-term inconvenience for long-term gain.
While the project is implemented by the National Agency, we in the Municipal Government have done, and continue to do, what we can on our part to soften its impact on the riding public:
- We did NOT allow full closure. DPWH originally wanted to close TWO lanes. We allowed only ONE lane to be closed at a time to keep traffic moving.
- We formally asked DPWH to shorten the construction period and finish the works in the soonest possible time.
- Our MITCOM has implemented traffic contingency measures, including rerouting, deployment of additional traffic enforcers at choke points, extended duty hours during peak hours, and close coordination with DPWH on work scheduling.
Unfortunately, we will be expecting unusual traffic to occur while the DPWH continue their road works. As fellow road users of this National Highway let us exercise patience no matter how difficult, understanding and cooperation as we all bear this inconvenience together.
Whenever you can, plan your important meetings and trips ahead, and where possible, take alternate routes, and allow extra travel time.
Rest assured, we in the Local Government of Minglanilla will continue to engage DPWH to expedite the works and minimize disruption.
